Mourinho has faith in me – Fellaini

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini says that he has the trust of manager Jose Mourinho.

Fellaini, 28, had been left out of United’s starting lineup in the Premier League following the 3-1 defeat against Watford on Sept. 18 and was an unused substitute in the subsequent games against Leicester City and Stoke City.

However, the Belgium international made his return to the XI in the 0-0 draw with Liverpool on Monday, with Mourinho keeping him on the pitch for the full 90 minutes.

“Look, I work every day in training, I show myself, I think he trusts me,” Fellaini, who has featured in nine of United’s 12 matches in all competitions this season, told United Review.

“I will do everything I can on the pitch and always give my best, so he can trust me, and that is the most important thing: when the manager trusts you. We have a good squad, good players and competition is high and so that’s why you have to push yourself all the time.”

The midfielder added that training under Mourinho has been both varied and intense, and that there is no dissent from within the group.

“The players are all listening to the staff,” he said. “He’s obviously a very good manager who puts on good training sessions which are always different, and that’s important.

“He knows what he wants and the levels are high, so he always wants to keep up the pressure. He’s always working towards the objective: to win. That’s why we’re here. A club like Man United has to win.”
